A Few of My Favorite Things, Aruba's Bucuti
The Bucuti Resort in Aruba was unlike many I have stayed at. These are a few of my favorite things:
The entrance of the resort was an open-air lobby with champagne!

Movies on the beach at sunset. We were supposed to see The Kings Men, but a Jennifer Lopez movie was on instead. Oops, sorry dad, I read the date wrong.
My room was beyond amazing, but you have seen the view.
The sign at the towel stand...weather and drinks were always perfect.
The beach was right outside our door and my view every morning when I woke up.
The Pirate's Nest and bar, where I spent most of my afternoons at lunch.

Day 4, Movies on the Beach!
Movie on the beach! This is the coolest idea ever...pardon the dark photo. Tonight they are showing The King's Speech.

On My Mind Today... Aruba Edition
People watching on the beach is way more fun than reading.
I need more lobster in my life.
Talking my parents out of wearing sunscreen this morning might have been a bad idea. Lol...
I can't get used to guys in speedos!!! They do make me giggle though so bring it on.
The ocean is powerful. I prefer to sit by it and watch it...but walk to the pool to swim.
Piña Coladas are the best drink invented.
Everything sounds cool on steel drums...even heavy metal.
I am Indian, but I sunburn. Like, a lot.

Sun Break
I officially am looking like a lobster and am taking a sun break. It isn't so bad because the view from my room is amazing!

Alto Vista Chapel
I have been wanting to go here since we planned the trip. This chapel was rebuilt in the 50s on the spot that the first Catholic church in Aruba was built in the 1700s. It is oceanside and has seating outside as well.
Only negative...homeless dogs on the property...made me miss my chunky Lola! :)

California Lighthouse
This is at the northernmost point in Aruba, built in 1914-16. It was named after a famous shipwreck traveling from Liverpool to Central America.
We have a map where you can dive and visit all of the shipwrecks but I am too much of a scardey cat!

Seaside
Today we drove around the island in the smallest car I have ever been in. On the side our hotel is on, it is very beachy, but on the other it is really rocky and the waves HUGE amazing and beautiful. The ground in many parts is hard to walk on it is so rocky.
My dad said you can't swim on that side or you would end up in Caracas...meaning the water is too violent. ;)

Day 1 of 365, My 37th Year
So in the midst of the Aruba planning I decided to incorporate the 365 Day idea into my blog.
Basically you post a photo a day for a year so you can look back at what you did, who you met or what you learned. Or maybe in my case it might be a lot of Lola. I figured it would be a fun way to chronicle my 37th year.
So here is my first photo...an Aruba sunset. I can't express how happy I am to have this time with my parents!
