Damn Landslide

At 3:30 a.m. on this past Tuesday I woke up to pounding on my door by police evacuating the building. His exact words 'You need to get dressed and evacuate the building immediately. There has been a landslide and the building has been comprimised.' It was the scariest moment ever. I really didn't know how much time I had to get out or what to take. So, naturally I ran for a few minutes in circles absolutely panicked. Got the important stuff in the moment.

Later that day I started taking things out of the apartment and as of today, Saturday, I am completely moved out. My stuff is on route to my new apartment and my new life in Austin.

I am ready to leave. Not just because of the landslide but the after effects...my renters insurance won't pay for hotel, I had to rent a storage unit for a day until we could get a trailer (but they made me pay for a month) and I got yelled at today by a lady because I stopped too far in the crosswalk. Mind you I was on a hill with a the trailer behind me. I totally yelled at her, which temporarily made me feel good.

I felt so alone, even though I had tons of friends and coworkers offering help. I really just wanted my family. So, I think being in Austin one mile from my brother (poor Matt..haha) and 2 hours from my parents is a good thing for me. Not to mention that Austin definitely ties SF in my mind in coolness.
