What I Wore to Lollapalooza...in 1992

First off, thanks to Sharon at The Tiny Heart for hosting the What to Wear to a summer concert link up today! As you can probably see from my photo, what I used to wear to a summer concert {or festival} is very different from what I wear now. The "then" outfit is actually, down to the pink Dr. Martens, exactly what I wore to Lollapalooza in 1992. Yes, I still remember exactly what I wore! Although, I don't remember how in the world I talked my parents into letting me and my little brother {in junior high} go. It was a blast...and where I developed a serious crush on Eddie Vedder.

Most recently, my style at the Austin City Limits Festival {ACL}was a bit more practical. My main focus was keeping the sun off my face in the day and staying warm at night if it was breezy, while wearing comfortable shoes. I also made sure to have a few essentials in my backpack like toilet paper, hand sanitizer and my iPhone.

Besides my style, one of the biggest changes {I am loving} is the growth of technology in this space. Before I even leave my house now, I download specific apps to make the concert or festival experience even better. Here are my two favorites:

  • Vivogig. Okay who isn't photo-obsessed these days?! With this unique music-focused app, you capture and share photos from concerts and festivals of all sizes {like my shot at Frank in Austin below}. I *love* seeing the viewpoints from others in the crowd...it is a pretty cool way to look at a show. You can also vote to help your favorite band climb the Vivogig charts-and win free tickets to concerts.
  • The festival app. ACL did a great job with their app and instead of the paper handout, I referred to this. I had my personal playlist set up so I knew exactly what stage I needed to be at and when. I also loved the diagram of the grounds so I knew where everything was on-site.

What was your first music concert or festival? And, did I miss any must-haves that you take with you?
