City at Night
Dear Mom and Dad,
So I decided to stay in Paris-go ahead and pack my things and ship
Harley and Lola to me.
Love,
Amber
P.S. I hope it is okay that I used your credit card to rent a room at
the Ritz.

Pulp Fiction? No!
My dad LOVES Pulp Fiction and asked me to take a photo of the "Royal
with Cheese" sign at McDonald's. So, I went in to the store near the
Louvre to take the photo. Went in...started to take the photo...then
got kicked out of McDonald's by a 16 year old. Too funny-normally I
would have taken it anyway but you never know about laws in other
countries...

Paris!
We made it to Paris-are getting in some quick siteseeing.
Unfortunately most of the shops are closed so shopping is minimal-but
that may be a good thing.

Burgandy is My Favorite Color
This morning we are on our way to Paris, driving through the Burgandy
region.
Every year 1.8 million bottles of wine are produced in this area. Some
exclusive wines here can cost up to 20,000 euros and are pre-sold
before they are even produced!
On another note, the countryside is everything I hoped it would be and
more. I might be in love with France...

Those Crazy Kids
In Lucerne after the folklore dinner, Aimee and I contiued our
tradition of hitting the bar with the Canadian ladies-our besties this
trip.
We walk in and there are 5 brace face kids at the bar singing. We then
see they are smoking and drinking...
See, in Switzerland, it is legal to drink beer at 14. Not shots or
hard liquor-just beer. They were really annoying-I am almost certain I
was not annoying at 14 or 15 after a bottle of Strawberry Hill.

The Last Snow Day-I Think
We went to the top of Mount Pilatus in Lucerne today-although the view
was covered in clouds it was fun to play in the snow! It took almost
30 minutes on the gondola-scary but worth it. I think I look rather
snow angel'ish!
Our new friend Andrew from Australia got pegged with a snowbal by Lyle
from South Africa-snow when down his shirt-too much fun. I would say
one of the best aspects of this trip is being on vacation with people
from all over the world.
Last night we went to a Swiss folklore dinner with much yodeling,
playing music on a broom and saw and a conga line. I drank a stein of
beer, glass of wine and then drank Andrew's beer he received for
yodeling on stage.
We are off to France later today.

Swiss Miss
I have had some reception issues since we entered Switzerland when
sending out email. Yesterday we left Italy and crossed the border into
Switzerland.
We stopped off in Lugano (pictured) and they were having a chocolate
festival! This city is amazing-and expensive.
After, we headed to Lucerne for an overnight. Our hotel room was
interesting-think a little larger than a California king. The best
part though was the view of the alps surrounding you.
There are little waterfalls all along the roadside coming down from
the snow melting on the alps-can that get any more perfect?!
More to come on this country...

Like Being in a Movie
Today we crossed through Austria to Italy. It is an absolutely
beautiful country. Today we went to Venice and Aimee commented that
every moment felt like we were in a movie, which was true. The gondola
ride was everything you imagine! The towns are very expensive-8 euro
for a cappucino.

Golden Balcony
Made it to Austria - drove through the Austrian Alps - beautiful but
cliffside scary. This is the Golden Balcony in Innsbruck.

Rothenburg, Germany
It has been snowing all day and I think we will be seeing snow until
Italy. We just stopped in Rothenburg (pictured here) for lunch and
shopping. I am getting good at zeroing in on what I want to do in each
town. My friend Holly told me how much I would like Rothenburg and she
was right-it is a beautiful and quaint town surrounded by a wall from
the medieval times.
I am also really liking the simplicity of our meals and food here.
Yesterday I had for breakfast a slice of cheese and croissant, lunch
a bratwurst and roll then dinner soup, a piece of fish with spinach
and rice. I won't say it has been easy getting used to the food here-I
barely ate in London. Food in London is another story-ewwww fish and
chips and a new American classic "Bam" - will write about that later.
Eyes back on the road for now...

The path of our boat ride. Loving Germany-had Bratwurst and beer in
Boppard before we hopped on the boat.
